Reconstruction
Today, a reconstruction of the medieval timber-framed church stands on Södra Råda's old church site. The approach to much of the construction was probably the same as when the church was once built almost seven hundred years ago. The reconstruction work in Södra Råda has provided us with knowledge of medieval timber structures that are now used to care for and preserve existing medieval buildings in Sweden and internationally.

Researching crafts
During a guided visit, we tell you more about the medieval building techniques. On some tour days, we have carpenters who participated in the construction on site as guides. You can also read more about the project in the book "Att forska om hantverk". Available for purchase at the church site.
You can read more about the methodology of the reconstruction process here.
Knowledge bank
The reconstruction work is carefully documented by the Crafts Laboratory in order to be available to researchers and others interested in craftsmanship.
